Gary Reynolds (born June 21, 1952) is the founder of GMR Marketing, of New Berlin, Wisconsin and the pioneer of the practice of engagement marketing.[1][2] A former professional musician,[3] he founded GMR in 1979 on the concept of tying bands with brands, most notably the Miller Brewing Company with rock bands, which developed into the Miller Band Network.[4]
GMR Marketing is now owned by the Omnicom Group but Reynolds remains as CEO/Chairman. Gary Reynolds distinguished the agency by orchestrating events for clients that built brand relevance with consumers on a personal level by leveraging interests in sports and entertainment through interactive methods. GMR is a regular winner in the annual Pro,[2][5] Ex,[6][7] Reggie,[8][9] and Effie[10] awards and was honored as 2009 Sports Event Marketing Firm of the Year by Sports Business Journal at the Sports Business Awards on May 28, 2009.[11]
Gary Reynolds is also Chairman of the Radiate Group,[12]
Gary Reynolds began developing an offshoot company, Banshee Music, in 2007 and opened for business in the autumn of 2008.[13][14] Banshee Music terms itself as a “sonic-branding” agency and it works with sports teams, collegiate athletic programs, sporting events and sports venues in developing and marketing original, sports-related music for stadium, promotional and broadcast use. Banshee Music’s revenue model allows sports partners to share in the ownership of the music.[13][15] In 2009, Reynolds and Banshee Music were profiled in Sports Illustrated,[16] USA Today[17] and Forbes magazine.[13]
